Both rideshare offers here are percentage discounts across two rides with a per-ride cap, not flat credit. A 40% discount capped at CA$10 saves you the full CA$10 only on a ride costing CA$25 or more; on a short CA$12 trip the same code saves under CA$5.
That cap is what determines the real value. Using the code on your two longest upcoming trips, rather than on the next two rides you happen to take, is the difference between capturing most of the offer and capturing a fraction of it.
The Lyft offer is limited to the City of Toronto. Rideshare promotions are routinely city-specific, and a code that works in one market will simply not apply in another.
With a CA$10 per-ride cap, the maximum total saving is CA$20 across two rides, and reaching it requires each fare to be at least CA$25 before the discount. Two CA$15 rides would save CA$6 each instead, for CA$12 total.
Airport runs, cross-city trips and surge-priced rides are where a capped percentage discount pays out fully. Short local hops rarely reach the cap. The offer pages state the current percentage and cap for each platform.
Uber's own referral rules restrict publishing personal referral codes to the general public or to coupon-style websites. That restriction is disclosed on the Uber offer page rather than hidden, because it affects the code's reliability: a code distributed in a way the platform does not permit can be deactivated.
This is worth knowing before relying on any Uber code found through search, including this one. If a code is rejected, the platform's own in-app invite screen is the route that always works.
